This is what Beavis & Butt-Head would look like in real life according to special makeup effects artist Kevin Kirkpatrick. Scary!
Adjusted the top screw and tested the focus at different measured distances: Works like a charm again! To top it all off I found a fitting, original lens cap on eBay for €5! All that’s left is finding special glue to put the leather back on, but before that I’m going to shoot a roll of Fuji Provia 400X to check if everything really works after 35 years!
Removed the leather glue residue from the camera body. There are 3 screws behind caps and covered in red.. goo - where’s Dexter when you need him? The top screw is for the horizontal alignment of the and the middle one is for the vertical alignment of the Rangefinder. The bottom screw should be for tilt-adjustment but I hope that adjusting the first two will do the trick!
Carefuly removed the leather (they used real leather in the 70’s!) without tearing it. The Rangefinder Adjustment Screws are located underneath.
Light Meter didn’t work. Removed the Mercury Battery and it’s terrible leakage. Meter works, but overexposes due the 1,5V Alkaline battery I put in. Just ordered a 1,35V Zinc-Air battery from Weincell which should fix that.
